Sacramento Open to continue on Saturday Oct. 3

Weather permitting, the Sacramento Open will continue on Saturday October 3rd. at the McKinley tennis courts with 3.5, 4.0 and 5.0 matches.

Matches start Saturday and will continue all day. In case of rain matches will take place on Sunday.

Due to a less than exciting player attendance the lower level matches have been in doubt until a few days ago. Luckily, Ken was able to enroll a few more players in the past week and the tournament will take place as planned. The only issue is now the weather, which is forecast as "cloudy".

We are hoping this is going to be the last tournament with such poor attendance. We know the players are there. We could probably run a tournament on a weekly basis judging from the number of players at McKinley, Sac State and Sac City (not to mention the private clubs) that play on a regular basis. We think this time the issue was lack of communication and because of that a number of players (yours truly included) were unaware of the tournaments until very late and then only by chance.

In the future we plan to advertise both online and at the facilities with inexpensive posters and fliers so that more players can enjoy some good old competitive tennis.
